A thousand years have passed; the poem on the eastern cliff remains
To be honest, self-introduction does not come naturally to me. I have long felt that pinning labels on oneself only exposes one’s rough edges, and creates an unwelcome distance from others.
But my thinking has shifted in recent years. The reserved “gentleman” of classical virtue fits poorly in today’s restless, appearance-driven age, especially for those of us from humble beginnings. Only those who dare to present themselves can carve out a foothold. To put it optimistically: perhaps only when you embrace the world will the world embrace you in return.
That is the main reason I am writing this. The table below sketches me in brief.

As you can see, I am not a particularly outstanding person. Looking back, my youth was not well spent, but I can only look forward. Frankly, I am not satisfied with where I am in life, yet I am willing to admit that, and I have the courage to change rather than to deny and defend.
Pass the lamp from one to another, until ten thousand lamps are lit
If I had to sum myself up in one word, it would be “contradiction”. Beyond a few fundamental convictions, I sometimes find my own thoughts in complete conflict, and I struggle with how to choose. For that reason I rarely pass judgment on people or things. People change, but the years remember. In that sense, I fear the day I face my past self and feel a sharp discomfort.
